Brief Description


This course is presented in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), which reviews the accounting treatments relating to business combination and a company’s investment in other companies. This course also deals with the preparation of the consolidated financial statements of the holding company and its subsidiaries in the date of control and the following periods.


Course Objectives


After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Distinguish between different accounting methods in counting for company's investments in other companies.
  2. Distinguish between multiple forms of business combination.
  3. Apply the accounting standards of measurement and disclosure of business combination and investing in companies.
  4. Prepare the consolidated financial statements of the holding company and its subsidiaries.
  5. Identify, record, and adjust intercompany transactions between the holding company and its subsidiaries.
  6. Differentiate alternatives for business combination and investment cases in companies using accounting information.

  1. Accounting for the company’s investments in other companies.
  2. Accounting for business combination.
  3. Consolidation of financial statements for the holding company and its subsidiaries that are wholly or partially owned.
  4. Consolidation of financial statements in light of intercompany transactions between the holding company and its subsidiaries.
